COVID and Flu Vaccinations – Autumn/Winter 2026
We are pleased to confirm that Amherst Medical Practice will be offering and delivering both COVID-19 and flu vaccinations at the practice this autumn and winter.
Our vaccination clinics will begin from 1st of October 2026.
Eligible patients will be invited to book their vaccination appointment with us when the programme opens. We recommend that eligible patients wait to be invited by the practice rather than arranging their vaccination at a community pharmacy.
Where appropriate, we will aim to offer COVID-19 and flu vaccinations at the same appointment.
Who is eligible?
The eligibility criteria are set nationally by NHS England and may be different for the flu and COVID-19 vaccination programmes.
For the 2026/27 flu programme, eligible groups include:
- Adults aged 65 years and over
- Adults aged 18 to 64 in an eligible clinical risk group
- Pregnant women
- Children who meet the age or clinical risk criteria
- People living in long-stay residential care
- Eligible carers
- Close contacts of people with weakened immune systems
- People experiencing homelessness
- Eligible frontline health and social care workers
For the 2026 autumn COVID-19 programme, vaccination is being offered to:
- Adults aged 75 years and over
- Residents of care homes for older adults
- People aged 6 months and over who are immunosuppressed
The eligibility criteria are set nationally and may be updated by NHS England.

What do I need to do?
If you are eligible for vaccination at the practice, please wait for an email/SMS invitation from us which will allow you to self-book in for an appointment. There is no need to contact the practice to ask when you can book.
We will contact eligible patients with information about how to arrange an appointment as our clinics become available.
Although NHS vaccination may also be available through community pharmacies, we ask our eligible patients to wait for an invitation from Amherst Medical Practice rather than booking their vaccination elsewhere.
This will help us coordinate our vaccination programme and, where appropriate, offer your COVID-19 and flu vaccinations together.
If you have already received an invitation from the practice, please follow the instructions provided.
Please do not contact the practice to book your vaccination before you have received an invitation.
Thank you for your patience and cooperation while we organise this year's vaccination programme.
