Dr Cathryn J. Lay
Primary qualifications: MA, BM BCh, FRCGP, DRCGP, FFPC, PGCE
I qualified in Oxford in 1985 with two sporting but no medical distinctions. I have been in Partnership at the Amherst Medical Practice since 1992. My special interest is in GP education and I was an examiner for the Royal College of General Practitioners, and Programme Director on the Tunbridge Wells Vocational Training Scheme between 1999 and 2005. I currently train GPs in the practice and completed a PGCE in Medical Education and Leadership in 2013. I was awarded Fellowship of the RCGP in 2018.
I am married to a now retired Gynaecologist and have 3 adult children, all still financially dependent for the next few years so I won't be hanging up my stethoscope any time soon.
I keep up my telephone triage skills working for NHS111 and London Ambulance Service in Croydon and I also work for the weekend hub with West Kent GP Federation. I don't find much time for my sporting passions, but continue to swim and walk regularly and ski with the family whenever possilbe.
