Health Visitors and what they do
Health Visitors are
trained nurses who have been additionally qualified.
Although concerned with all age groups, they have a special responsibility
for the under-fives.
New-born babies are visited at home and parents advised on child health
and development. They encourage attendance at child health clinics and
offer post-natal sessions.
The health visitors are also concerned with single parents and families
under stress, the elderly, the physically and mentally handicapped.
