Midwives and their Role
Midwives have a central role in the care of pregnancy.
The Sevenoaks team consists of five midwives and occasionally a student
midwife.
Once your pregnancy has been confirmed by your GP, your ante natal care
will be provided by a team of midwives. They are based at The Pavilion
in the grounds of Sevenoaks Hospital and provide most of the local care
for pregnant women and also for women with newborn babies once you are
home from hospital.
You will enter into a trusting relationship with your midwife who will
get to know you and work with your family unit towards a satisfactory
and fulfilling outcome to your pregnancy. The midwives run antenatal
clinics at the hospital and throughout the week and are available to
offer advice on pregnancy, labour and postnatal period.
If you wish to contact them please ring 01732 470341, you may leave
a message and a midwife will call you back. The midwives also work closely
with the team of health visitors..
